Dear Mr. Mann – Fisherman’s Friend

Posted on May 1, 2025 by

Dear Fisherman’s Friend,

I want to take a moment to give credit where it’s due. Fisherman’s Friend lozenges are, without question, the best bang for your buck when it comes to cough suppression. They’re strong, fast-acting, and refreshingly unapologetic about tasting like they mean business. I don’t reach for syrup or candy-coated placebos when a cough starts. I go for the little bag that gets the job done.

My father-in-law introduced me to them years ago, passing one over with the kind of solemn gravity usually reserved for heirloom tools or secret chili recipes. It felt less like a cough drop and more like being inducted into a rugged maritime guild. Since that moment, I have never looked back. Come cold season, I scatter them across my life like talismans. One in the car, one in the desk drawer, and one on the kitchen counter. Ready to deploy at the first sign of throat rebellion. They work. They always work.

I’m also genuinely thankful that they’re not individually wrapped. It means I don’t end up with a trail of foil or plastic lurking in my pockets, backpack, or laundry. I open the pouch, grab what I need, and that’s that. Clean and simple.

One suggestion, though. I’d love to see a version made for kids. The current size and strength are much for younger ones, especially when they’re already feeling miserable. A child-sized option would be a game-changer for parents who want something reliable but gentler for little throats.

Thanks again for making a product that works and doesn’t waste time pretending otherwise.

Sincerely,

James
