A life freely shared
With those I trust
Picture after picture
Not because I must
Seeking their approval
Of my life’s choices
Addicted to response
Of their voices
They see me at my best
A curated life on display
They applaud my achievements
Because I hide my dismay
Like is a take on social media addiction and my problems with it. Sometimes it’s not enough to just be satisfied with your accomplishments, sometimes you need the affirmation of others as well. I’m not sure where this desire to feel needed and respected comes from, but it’s amazing the feeling you receive once someone outside your little bubble acknowledges that you did something special. I guess there’s a little of that in all of us.
