Litter

Posted on January 24, 2023February 10, 2023 by

When my mind gets full
And to focus is a chore
Sometimes I feel the pull
To drown in cheap lore

Little tidbits of information
Are useless pieces of trivia
That only lowers my station
Look, an article on Bolivia

I should spend some time
That time should be soon
To clean out all the grime
While singing a new tune

There are so many things that fill our thoughts. From the 24-hour news cycle to gossip magazines, to what our neighbors are doing, and more. We spend so much time processing useless bits of information, that we rarely have enough mental energy to think good, deep, and hard thoughts. I find it helpful to keep the television off or have technology-free weekends. Sometimes we just need to stop processing new information and let the information in our heads simmer for a while.
